Now that Imani has a strong grasp on the alphabet teaching him words has been a lot easier. I have also introduced sentences to him which has opened up a whole new can of worms. He seems to not understand the meaning of words when they are put together. I'm afraid he gets overwhelmed with the amount of words that he has to know back to back. Although I am using simple sentences such as "We look up" or "Where is the can?", Imani still gets nervous. I have tried my best to ease him into this practice, but I think the only way he will be comfortable is if we continue to practice. By the end of session he still seemed tense about reading sentences, so hopefully he will be more comfortable during our next session.
