Ken CP #3 Camilo

Camilo is very interested in exercising, so this week I brought him to the Tallahassee Rock Gym. I have been going there for over a year so I was very familiar with the staff and how to pick routes for beginners.

When we arrived, he had to fill out a liability form. It was like a real life TOEFL test that he nearly passed without an issue. The one thing that he got hung up on was the acronym "D.O.B". After explaining the meaning, he was good to go. I let him exclusively interact with the staff when they were explaining the rules of the gym to him.

After the sign up process, we went to the bouldering floor where we progressed from easy routes to ones that are more technical. Camilo is a natural, but like all climbers on their first days of climbing, his finger strength and forearms could not keep up with the rest of his body.

That said, we still climbed for a respectable 1.5 hours, certainly longer than my first time at the gym.

He said he wants to come back, so next time, I will introduce him to the next stage of his rock climbing career: top roping.
