So, I finally got a different professor
to observe. It was a good observation! Professor Wilson has the students input
a lot, ask questions, and gives plenty of examples that I’m pretty sure he
comes up with on the spot. He was super friendly.
The
first thing the students did was go over the shopping lists they had written
down. I at first thought this was a bit dumb, but I realized that there are a
lot of different terminologies that have to be remembered, like a LOAF of
bread, a BUNCH of grapes, etc. Showed me how stupid it was to NOT practice.

So,
after that, we went over definite articles, like the, these, your, my, etc.,
and indefinite articles, like a, an, and *no article*. A lot of things were pointed
out that I never realized. Proper nouns generally don’t have articles, and when
buying things, you usually use plurals. “Best Buy is a great place to buy TVs.”
vs “Best Buy is a great place to buy a TV.”
As
a side note, I also learned that in German, ALL nouns are capitalized.
We
then went over the project they had to do, which is a skit, and he showed some
funny skits that were done a couple years ago.
Then
we went over count nouns, non-count nous, and more articles.
Abstract
nouns and gerunds are non-countable, etc.
After
the break, we went of noun clauses. All the students did really well, I don’t
think any of them had any difficulties whatsoever.
