Today we did quite a lot. First, we got
some coffee, which was nice. I could really use some coffee right now. We
started off with me introducing the SPEAK test, which my other tutee had
informed me on. Dasom isn’t at a level to where she needs to study for it, and
a lot of it is very advanced material, so we did a modified version of it,
without it being timed.
The
practice consisted of several different things to test out speech. The first
was giving directions. A map was shown, and I had Dasom tell me how to get from
one point to the other. This was a bit challenging, because you have to think
of the terms not from the view of the paper, but where the person is standing
and which way they are facing. However, she did very well! The next question
was to suggest a spot for me to visit and tell me why. She also did very well
on that! Because it’s more about speaking and not grammar, I didn’t nitpick.
The last question for that one was to recommend a movie to see at the theater
that she likes and why. It was a bit hard for her to come up with reasons, but
her favorite movie is Spiderman and basically all superhero movies, haha.
I’ll
probably use a superhero movie in our next meeting!
