Annie CP #1 Brenda

I met with Brenda today and we went and had a smoothie. Brenda is from Mexico City and she is staying here with her family that lives in Quincy. Her English is still developing so we spent a lot of time just trying to understand each other. It's good that I speak Spanish because I can help her a little bit when she gets totally stuck and doesn't know what to say. We spoke a lot about her life here in Tallahassee and about how difficult learning another language is. We laughed about how I can't roll my tongue to produce the 'r' sound in Spanish and she has trouble pronouncing the English 'th'. It's definitely cool to compare Brenda's experiences learning English and mine learning Spanish because I totally understand how she's feeling right now about learning a second language and that makes it easier for me to explain things.
