Karinna CP#1

Prior to meeting Naser at the local Starbucks, we exchange a few words via text. Right away I noticed his English vocabulary was limited, but knew how to express himself. As we drank our coffee we talked a little about our school lives, home lives, and social lives. I first asked him why he signed up for a conversation partner and of course he said "to learn English". He told me about his school plans and his to dreams to be a environmental engineer. He is starting Florida State University in the Fall on a full ride scholarship. We then talked about his family and all the siblings he had. All of his older siblings have studied abroad in England and he is first to continue his studies in the states. When I talked about my family life I brought up my two pet dog. He was very surprised by this statement, which made me ask if pets were common in Kuwait (his home country). He said yes, but mostly camels. I learned that our common house pets, such as cats and dogs, are not so common in Kuwait. In fact, raising numerous camels is much more common. We learned a little about each others; the difference and similarities about our lives.
