Alberto TS#2

Date/Time: 7/8/17 – 10 AM
Location: Kids’ house

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: There are six children in the family, the youngest child is a baby and the oldest is fifteen years old. They moved to the United States less than a year ago from Uganda, but they are actually from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Annie and Dylan both came with me since they are also tutoring the same family; refugee outreach volunteers were there as well which really helped considering the number of children that needed attention. The volunteers had different, age appropriate, card games and books to teach the kids vocabulary words as well as to help them practice sounding out words. All the children are very enthusiastic to learn and need as much help as possible. I am very grateful for the opportunity to meet this family and to be able to help them learn a new language.
