Dylan TS#1 Child

Date/Time: 7/8/17 10-11 am

Location: Kids House

Lessons taught/ Learned: Alberto, Annie and I went to the children's home this past Saturday. There are six children with the youngest being around 2 years old and the oldest at 15. When walking in the children were so excited to meet us and were all very friendly. All of them seem motivated to learn and were having a good time doing it. They came to the United States from Uganda where English wasn't a major language to know there. I tutored Daniel the oldest one and we went over vocabulary. I would give Daniel a flashcard and asked him what it was and how to spell it. Overall he was very good and distinguishing them but struggled with vowels. So I pulled up a vowel game on my phone where he would plug in the vowels into a word. This seemed to really help him and he loved using my phone for the game.  Volunteers were also there helping out which made it a lot easier to transition into the teaching which helped me a lot. I look forward to coming back and teaching more along with learning more about the family.
