The class I observed was a level 3 listening course. In a short period of time, Mr.Flemming was able to give his students a full class, packed with numerous activities and reviews. He first reminded his class that there would be a listening test the following day and of the material that they needed to review. He gave the class a couple of minutes to review the vocabulary words that will be on the test and allowed them to ask him any questions they had. I saw that most of the students used their smartphones to look up the definitions of the words. Next they listened to a recording that actively used the words they have learned in a conversation and explained their meanings in great details. Once the recording was over, Mr. Flemming allowed the class to discuss their notes with the class to see if any students missed any important information, he also went around answering any questions. Lastly, the class practiced their listening skills by doing an interactive activity. Mr. Flemming repeated a statement 3 times and the students only had a couple of minutes to write down what they heard on a white board. The students then asked them to raise their white boards up so he can do a quick check on their mistakes and they reviewed the common errors by presenting the class with the proper written sentences. Mr. Flemming was not checking for spelling errors, his main focus was making sure the class can clearly hear and write down what they heard. Once that activity was done, he opened up the floor for any last minutes questions before the class ended.
