Feedback provided to tutee: In today's session, Dojun and I worked on pronunciation, fluency, and culture.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I hadn't been able to schedule a session with Dojun for some time before today (10 days), and was surprised by how much his fluency had suffered after not having practiced for that time. He warmed up as the session continued, but at first it felt like we had regressed to the level of the first session. However, this drove home the point of how important it is to make the tutee feel comfortable in front of you. By being encouraging and friendly, it was easier to get Dojun to feel more comfortable with making mistakes and speaking more quickly, which in turn make error correction and progress easier and more fluid.
On a funnier note, Dojun mentioned his impression that Americans were obsessed with zombies, which I couldn't dispute since my actual class lesson plan was all about zombies.
