For this conversion partner meeting with Xuan was something a little different. Xuan suggested we go to the Japnica Steakhouse. Thinking I would get sushi I said yeah no problem I'll meet you there. Upon getting there we are seated but there is a small whiteboard that is in Chinese. Xuan went up to it and pointed which things he wanted to order. Talking in only Chinese to the waiter I had no idea what was going on nor what he was ordering. When he came back from talking to waitress I asked what he ordered. Xuan explained to me that he ordered fried fish which was fine but then asked me if I had ever tried pig ears. Thinking it was like the pork loins you can buy at a grocery store I said yeah of course I tried pig ears. These weren't the same pig ears. These were actually pig ears but it tasted incredibly. We talked more about what our plans were for the rest of summer and how some food norms are different in china than here. It was kind of an eye opening experience but definitely one I don't regret. The next time I am at a Chinese restaurant I'm for sure going to order pig ears again.
