Level: 3B
Today was the last day I would be
meeting with Dasom before she goes back to Korea. It makes me really sad that
she won’t be coming back. It’s very depressing, especially since I’ve had
thirteen tutoring sessions with her, each one more than an hour, most lasting
at least one and a half. We worked on some reading, worksheets, and vocabulary,
but spent most of the time practicing her speech with the same material I used
to help Yao with her SPEAK practice. I honestly wasn’t planning on staying as
long as I did, considering I didn’t get much sleep (video games…) and I had to
tutor Yao right before this, but going over the speech practices was mostly
about her opinions and her field of study, etc. One of them asked her about her
dream house—it was extremely funny. I can directly quote that she wants a big
living room with a huge television, a big reclining couch, two-stories, five
bedrooms, a pool, a bathroom with a big tub and big windows to see the scenery,
haha. The funniest part was that she wants to have a big television right above
her bed on the ceiling so she can lay down and watch TV!
We
had a really good time, and her answers are very creative and funny. I should
have kept in mind that tutoring doesn’t always have to be work, work, work; it
needs to have some fun incorporated into it.
I’d
like to think that Dasom has improved since our first session. She’s been
extremely tenacious, from our first session being the very first week to our
last session being after school has finished, and we met three times a week for
more than an hour every single time, altogether resulting in 21 hours and twenty minutes altogether! Including Yao’s tutoring
time of eight hours and thirty-five minutes, that totaled to 29 hours and 55
minutes! I’m pretty impressed!!!
She
leaves for Korea Wednesday morning, so I had prepared a small gift for her. It
was a cup from the Starbucks we always meet at that says “Florida”, just so she doesn’t forget. QnQ I really am sad that I
won’t be able to see her or tutor her again. I learned a lot from tutoring her,
and hopefully she’s learned a lot from my tutoring and I was able to contribute
to her experience here in America.
I'm out for tutoring. T-T
