Today’s lesson was a little shorter
because Yao had to go talk to the head of her department before I could tutor
her, so Dasom went first. She was having difficulties on when to use “to” or “for.”
It’s understandable. At first, last session, I could only explain a little bit
on why they’re used the way they are because it comes so naturally to me, so I
had to go home and conjure up some reasons and practices for them. It all has
to do with direction of action and how it affects the subject. It also has to
do with if the subject comes before or after the verb. Very helpful! I had her
do several sentences for several different types of uses, as well as complex
question sentences, as she wanted to do some of those as well.
After
that, we worked on her speech presentation. It was on a survey that she and her
partner did. I helped her with organization, how to structure the sentences and
tenses, and she did wonderfully! She needed a little push in the right
direction for vocabulary and pairings on how to present the surveyed people’s
answers, but other than that, she did great!
